By combining the song selections in the "Sounds to Words" CD, along with the Word Activity Exercises found in this book, learners will be able to quickly grasp the letter-sound relationships that are needed to construct over 200 words that are associated with the alphabetic and pattern stages of English orthographic spelling. Multiple opportunities are provided to segment words of two to three sounds into their individual sounds (e.g., cat= /c/a/t/; that= /th/a/t/; dish=/d/i/sh/) as well as distinguish between long and short vowel sounds in orally stated single syllable words (e.g., bit/bite).
